The Nursing Homes and Related Industries Pension Plan is a hybrid defined benefit multi-employer plan.
The plan was set up on January 1, 1989.
It is now responsible for the retirement income of over 33,500 nursing and retirement home employees throughout the province of Ontario.
The Plan Assets have increased to $568,026,438.90 as of March
31, 2009. To date a monthly benefit is being paid to 4,493 retirees.
Contributions are based on a percentage of pensionable earnings. The employer is obligated
to contribute the same dollar amount as the
employee.
The pension benefits you receive from this
Plan are paid for through contributions from both you and your
employer. The benefits payable to you is determined by the total
contributions received on your behalf and, if applicable, your
eligible years of employment prior to making contributions to
the Plan.
An administrative Fund Office has been
retained to carry out the day-to-day operations of the Plan.
Heading this office is an Administrator who has been hired to
manage the administration and record keeping affairs of the
Plan. In addition, the Administrator is there to assist you in
answering any questions or completing your pension application.
The Administrator also oversees a support staff to assist in the
operation of the Plan.
This summarizes the official rules and
regulations in the NHRIPP Plan Text, but it is only a summary.
If there are any discrepancies between this document and the
Plan Text, the Plan Text will govern. If you wish to review all
the details of the Plan, you should review the Plan Text and the
Declaration of Trust, both of which are available upon request
from the Fund Office. If there are any discrepancies between
the English-language and the French-language versions of the
Plan Text or the Trust Agreement the English-language versions
will prevail.

Plan, please contact the Fund Office.
